Anna Kennett

My name is Anna Kennett and my passions are knitting and crochet. As a consequence I design a range of innovative knitting and crochet items such as hats, cushions, tea cosies, mittens, bags, toys, sandwiches and cakes, boot tops, throws, in fact just about anything you can knit or crochet.

In November 2013 I exhibited in the Kapiti Arts Trail with my art style tea cosy’s. I made 20 whimsical tea cosy’s in all. You will see examples of my work and projects I have completed, which were designed by two of the UK’s top designers Debbie Abrahams and Jane Crowfoot, elsewhere on this website.

Like many New Zealand women I have dabbled in a variety of crafts -macramé, quilting, embroidery, needlepoint, upholstery, dressmaking, scrapbooking, basket weaving and rug making – but eight years ago I decided to focus on the two crafts I love most, knitting and crochet.

My decision coincided with my husband and I moving to London for a few years, and that provided lots of opportunity to indulge my newly-found determination. I travelled all over the UK attending workshops tutored by the UK’s top designers  – Kaffe Fassett, Erica Knight, Debbie Abrahams, Jane Crowfoot, Alison Crowther-Smith,  and Marie Wallin from Rowan Yarns, to name but a few. (My husband still caresses the family wallet with a shaking hand if I remind him I went to seventy-five different workshops during our time abroad!) However, I learned lots of exciting and innovative techniques which I am eager to share.

We all lead very busy lives these days and do not always have time for large projects. I want to show you how to knit/crochet blocks to make a quilt or to make small items including beautiful personalized gifts for your family and friends at a low cost.  There is so much fun and enjoyment to be had from a skill designed to give you hours of pleasure.

I look forward to welcoming you to one of my KnitnYarns workshop on the Kapiti Coast.
